I was messing about with garry's mod for cs, and I shot a HL2 ragdoll in the air, then I shot a CS model in the air. The CS model floated back down to earth, and the HL2 model came down quite forcefully.

I checked the mass of each body part (using the physics gun) and the all weighed roughly the same, so it can't be the overall mass of the model. It could be to do with air resistance.

The CS ragdolls have looked a bit odd to me for a while, and if someone could discover what bit of their reaction code is making them float down, then maybe valve could sort it, yaaaaay! :burp:

Yeah they become static when in the air/falling.

I think Jesse Cliffe said they did it to make it more realistic but he also said they'd make it more like hl2:dm soon.

Hmmm....for some reason I see just the opposite. CS models always seem to drop and slump like in real life, whereas HL2DM models will get thrown in ridiculous ways and twist in strange positions.

Watch the CS:S models when falling. They become static, arms and legs don't move at all until they hit the deck.

In hl2:dm arms and legs flail all over the place when bodies fly.

The CSS ragdolls should be a mix between the css now and hl2dm.

Quoted for truth (always wanted to say that :p)

Am I the only one that really doesn't give a shit about how the ragdolls fly drop and swirl?

Yes. :afro:

Indeed :) Ragdolls are fun and the better they are, the more satisfaction you get out of a kill IMHO.
