I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM before getting DOOM3 and HL2 but I am confused. I want to get a 256mb stick but I cant pick because at the end it says PC-100 and higher numbers.

My questions are what does that PC-(whatever number) mean and how do I find out which one I need.

Thanks in advance.

If your buying an additional RAM stick it has to be of the same speed as the one you currently have. I have PC3200 ram so if i wanted more ram i would have to buy a PC3200 module. it sounds like you have a very old system with PC100 ram? if so this is getting on a bit and you probably might not be able to play doom 3?

You don't have to buy the same speed of RAM, although it's recommended. If you bought slower or even higher your mother board will just scale the faster one down to be the same speed as the slower one.

To find out what speeds your mother board supports, either consult the manual or let us know what mother board you currently use and someone can help you.

I tested my compouter with this program I installed and it said this:

Main Circuit Board:
Board: ECS P4VXASD2+ 1.0
Bus Clock: 133 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 07.00T 04/02/01

What does that mean? What kind of RAM should I get?

No, you want PC2100 (133 MHz) DDR SDRAM.

Thanks a lot guys... with your help I will be able to enjoy a much better game of Doom3 and HL2.
