I have a stick of 512 MB PC 3200 and a stick of 512 PC 2100, They both work on their own but when I put them together they dont work. The screens come up fine, it does the memory check and it goes through the whole gig fine, but when the windows screen should start loading, the computer just restarts.

Cant I clock the pc 3200 down to 2100? I thought it did that automatically? help!

Nothing is guaranteed with memory. Tis a shame but true.
Try hitting Delete or F1 to go into the Bios and see if there is an option somewhere to change memory speed. If so set it to DDR266 (133MHz).

Otherwise, take back the memory and get some PC2700 as it generally will clock down to PC2100. =p
Sometimes memory just doesn't want to get along with each other though.

depending on your motherboard too, there could be a jumper setting. Check your motherboard manual to make sure

I fixed it, nothing wrong with any settings, windows just wouldnt load so I reformatted/reinstalled, now it works like a charm.

Glad it's working. Fresh installs are always nice.
