Ok i have two 512Mb sticks of RAM in my box at the moment. But i am considering upgrading to 2Mb.

My question is would i be able to get something like this take out my two 512 sticks, put those in where the 512's were and be a-ok to work?

Note - i have this card coming along too and am running a P4 3.2Ghz and this mobo

Would getting that RAM be ok?

Your motherboard's specs read:

Supported RAM Speed: PC2700, PC3200

:(

I would suggest holding off till you are ready to upgrade the mobo & cpu.

No no upgrading to 2Mb sounds like a great idea. Okay I jest but Gunner is correct I'd hold off until you can upgrade the whole system.

Yeah just checked, actually got a P5GPL...but it doesn't support DDR2

D:

Anywhere (UK) that i can get a case, PSU, mobo, ram and processor ready built but with nothing else? A semi-base unit kinda-thing.

God disc drives/HD/sound card and soon a graphics card, so just those things needed.

you want a barebones pc ..usually just mobo/ram/cpu/case/psu or any combination of those ..it's just as cheap to assemble those parts yourself ..barebone pcs are usually cheap because one of the parts is inferior

Yeah, found a decent mix on aria for ?325. Will look at it properly after i get paid next month.

Already ordered the 7900 ;)

Think i'll wait til i do the Mobo/Processor and get new DDR2 then :D

im just checking but all of you do know the difference between a mb and gb right? lol

good luck finding ddr400 memory ..most stores around me stopped carrying it long ago

You can leagaly return it within, I think, 7 days if its a postal order. You forfeit the transport costs though.

I pratically go to Dabs.com for all or my ware, I've got 2x1GB PC-6400 CL4 of corsair RAM to pick up from Royal Mail (I missed the delivery today whilst I was at work :flame:)

I know that Maplins have them partially built, but for the love of God do not go there!

Barebone PC section of Dabs

Depending how much you can put aside a month, I reckon that dual core system is the best thing (The intel processors are going down in price at a quick pace)
If you do decide to go with Intel, go with a barebone system that has a mobo that supports LGA775 Socket and has a Intel965chipset, it supports your current processor and has support for the dual core processors (And can use DDR2 Ram)
