Hi.
I'm pretty much rebuilding my system. I've got a new mobo and proc on the way ( MSI K8N Neo Plat.) and an Athlon 64 3000+. I want to know, should I reuse my 768 megs of ddr333 or buy 512 megs or 1 gig of ddr400? How much more performance would i see with 1 gig of 400, how much less with 512? Thanks

Less than 512? With a gig you'd see a lot more, definitely go with a gig.

Loading times will most likely increase with one gig. I know mine did when I upgraded from 512 to one gig.

well mine didnt, i had 512, loading times in far cry were really slow, then i upgraded to 1gb, the bar just flies!!! (well not actually lol but its a lot faster)

Also, having 512 more helped me with the graphics, i now can raise the resolution a bit (with my crappy 5600...) i just hope to raise it a lot more when i get my 9800pro!

You will see improvements by doing both: going from 333 to 400 bus and going from either 512/768 to 1GB. how much is the 64 mil question, for me I did both at once: everything seemed to be quicker: OS boot up, game loading, benchmarks too.
how much is hard to quantify. But I will say this, when I do multiple performance upgrades at the same time, speed or size, the improvements seem to feed off of each other.

First 2 responses. I didnt want to know how much ram to go with..I wanted to know if I would see a performance decrease if i go from 768 ddr333 to 512 ddr400

DDR400 will be consistantly ahead of DDR333 in most cases but by how much?
You will take dips with 512MB memory in games like Farcry and Battlefield (maybe even D3).
