Ok so right now I have 1GB of RAM on this pc. My dad and I are building a media center pc thats just massive. It will have 4GB of RAM, a 9800PRO 128MB video card, Windows Vista, P4 3.0GHZ, 1 terabyte of HD space. It's mainly for watching movies and using it as a TIVO. I told my dad that I wanted an extra 1GB of RAM for some time and he got it for me. Since I don't have a job I am thankfull he got it for me (I'm in college). Check out my specs on my xfire profile. But I wanna see how the performance is on this pc with an extra GB. Oh and I should get this monitor soon: http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=341696&pfp=browse&tabtype=rv#review Is it good or should I go for something else?

Sorta...idk. I'm gonna post on how much better the performance is so I guess it has to do with BF2.

From 1 gig to 2 gig on BF2 is amazingly different. Trust me. I love it.

Videocard is complete ass, but if you're just using it for TV/movies, then that's fine :p

Make sure you're getting high-quality hard drives. 7200RPM or higher, SATA2 if you can manage it.

So I just right now the UPS guy knocked on my door. When I open up the door this massive computer case is in front of me. Seriously this thing is like 4' tall. I'm gonna post my reviews up soon and take a few pics of the new comp. :bounce: It's like Christmas in November!

2 gigs for BF2/2142 does wonders. Say goodbye to stuttering. ;)

yes 1.5-2gb of memory for battlefield is great, but that video card will hold you back in some things.

Well I guess my dad kinda lied to me. He told me that he ordered an extra GB but all 4 are going in the comp. Also I have 2, 512 to make 1GB so buying 1GB would be 1.5GB. But this computer is really crazy. I'm gonna move my stuff to a 500GB HD and the new comp will take the 140GB HD or so that I'm using now. The computer already has 1.3 terabytes and has up to 4-5 slots for HD's. It's just this massive media center pc. So right now I'm planning to put my x800XL 256MB vid card inside it and see how HL: Episode 2 looks on it when it comes out. My dad and I still have to add things on it like a massive power supply. The thing has 10 USB ports for crying out loud. It even has a locking mechanism on it with 2 keys they gave us. :O Probably put a wifi on it or something idk.... *Since this is turning into a hardware section thread, can a mod move it?

I don't know if mixing a gig stick with a 512 stick is a good idea...I think there might be latency issues there. Don't quote me though, I'm going off of the back of my head remembering.

Well thats the point...I'm still stuck with 1GB. But I may be able to play my games on this monster idk.
