OK here is my delema I have 512mb of 3200ddr that overclocks to 177 or 2212 MZ. or I hve 1 gig of pc2100 that clocks at 170mz or 2125mz. My system definaly runs faster at the higher clock speed I get about 12% faster in Framerates on the counterstrike video test I go from 79 to 88 fps but I know halflife 2 is memory hungry or so I'm told. So is the extra ram worth losing cpu speed. Bottom line what is more important in this game CPU Speed or memory
If you really know what you are talking about please feel free to e-mail me direct on this one. I have to decide by this weekend [email protected] Thanks

512mb of ram is fine....Half life uses the ram on your g card more than your system ram (Doom was the oposite).

no doom uses both graphic card memory and system memory . lots of it more than hl2. the top settings for doom i think are for 512mb cards which arnt even out yet

I would likely go with 1gig at the lower clock speed. 8fps difference on the VST is pretty minor. You will likely see faster load times with the extra ram. I think 512mb is pretty much minimum requirement for a gaming rig these days, but plenty of people are running less, so you never know! Try it both ways!

512 MB Ram and 124 Video Memory was enough for me. I am running a 1.6 Gig AMD machine.
