System Specs:

Lanparty nf3 250gb mobo
AMD Athlon 3400+ 64bit proc (2.41ghz)
3x 512mb OCZ Platinum
evga 6800gt 256mb vid card

Nothing is OCed

While playing BF2, regardless of the video settings, My CPU will randomly shoot up to 100% causing my FPS to drop to 6-8fps. If I Alt+Tab the game and open it back up it returns to normal, if not it stays at 6-8fps for a few mintues then returns to normal after running around the map a bit. Normally my FPS is at 70-100(low) 60-85(med) and 30-55(high). I have checked all processes and just about everything not needed is closed leaving most my cpu for the game. I'd like to believe my pc is atleast above average so It's hard to imagine I need to upgrade it to play this game. Anyone have a clue as to what my problem my be arising from?

there's a lot of issues at the moment with the way this game runs....i'm mainly having a big problem with stuttering....it gets unbearable at times

do you have middle man for aim?

i used to play with aim running in the background and i no longer do because middleman can suck up resources out of nowhere.

Not sure what is causing the lag.

Though just to tell ya, any game is going to use about 100% of your CPU. Nothing odd with that exactly.

^^ horrible idea :upstare:

lol. don't be too rough on em...just trying to help :)

I'm guessing it's some kind of setting I have wrong in BIOS or the game just has a nasty bug. I've never had any game drop to 6 fps repeatedly like this.

you've got a good setup, this shouldnt be an issue (but im sure you know that:)) Latest drivers? (77.30s) came with the demo, will be in the bf2demo folder.

disable fast writes in BIOS. Look around for the AGP fast writes, it is in there somewhere. Disable that and it will work just fine.
