Random Exiting - Monitor resolution problem?

I just had my monitor switched back to the original monitor that was being used a few months ago.

TF 2 worked fine on both monitors, but now whenever I start up TF 2, it gets past the guy with the valve on his neck, but then immediately afterwards it exits. It never reaches the main menu or anything.

The same problem occurs for Episode 2.

Anyone know what the problem is? I don't see how a switch in the monitor could affect the games, but I wanted to put that out there just in case.

My best guess is that your new monitor supports a resolution that your old one isn't and its trying to load it at that res.

Try adding:
-height 1024 -width 768
into the command line. To do this, right click on TF2 in your steam games list, and select "properties". Then, under the general tab, click "launch options". In the box that comes up, type in "-height 1024 -width 768". Click ok", "Close".

Now, launch the game, if it lets you in, change the resolution through the menus to whatever you want it to be, and your all set.

If that dosen't work, come back and we shall try something else.

Ah, that makes complete sense.

The monitor I switched from was much larger than the current.
