2) How Do I directly connect to a computer on my network so as it see what they see? Does this require pcanywhere? Is it possible without going through the whole remote connect?

I'm going to assume you are running Windows XP

1) "My Network Places" if there isn't a shortcut for it on the start menu, go to "My Computer" and type it into the Address bar.

2) There are programs out there that will do it "Remote Administrator" was one I used ages ago. XP has a "Remote Assistance" but I've never used it before, google?

I've used VNC before to control my PC while I was somewhere else with web access. I don't believe you could view video over the connection though. It has been awhile.
