An unemployed accused felon named Alvin Greene appears to be their nominee for U.S. Senate. Party leaders had lined up a former state legislator named Vic Rawl as the chosen candidate against incumbent Sen. Jim DeMint, so they're wondering how the hell this happened.

he's clueless

Greene's main issue in the race appears to be the reunification of Korea

This is amazing. I would love to know how he got that $10,000 to get on the ballot.

he gave a personal cheque

In March, Greene paid a $10,400 filing fee to get on the ballot. But just four months before that, when he was charged with showing obscene images to a woman, Greene qualified for representation by a public defenderâ?? which in South Carolina requires an "affidavit of indigency" to prove that you can't afford your own attorney.

the [conspiracy] theory is that he's a republican plant. that they or someone put him up to it and that they somehow voted him into office.

'DUDE IT TOTALLY WORKED'
'OH MY GOD DUDE I CANT BELIEVE YOU ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH WITH THAT DARE'

From what I've read the other day, republicans have a history of plopping young black men into races, paying their way for filing fees and stuff to stir up racial discourse and bring out the racist voters.

Ah, the wonders of democracy. And you wonder why I became what I am.

I like him, btw, if not only for the reunification thing.

Damn, that was one uncomfortable interview.

Damn, that was one uncomfortable interview.

He certainly doesn't seem capable, at least from that interview, to do what the job would require of him.

When I first heard about this guy... I was like, "cool, it's neat that he as a relative nobody won" but then I heard about his criminal problems and then the reasons why he could be a plant, shelling out that kind of money and stuff to run, along with past examples of how other black men would come out, sometimes in twos and threes from a vehicle with a check to cash to run as a way of sowing dissent by bringing the racist voters out to help their candidates.

What is more amusing is that the Democratic Committee is demanding a redo...

Even if he's a plant the idiot democratic majority voted for him

Google "Open Primary", Einstein.

Hey, the politicians set up the laws, now they have to live with them.

Just like when the Mass. senate made it so there will be 2-3 months from when a Congressman leaves, to when another can be elected. They did that so the Republican Governer could not appoint a Republican Congressman. That bit them in the butt when Kennedy died last year...

This isn't some republican conspiracy, it's the fact that his name was first on the list...among others. Genius voters.

I'm running next election under the name Alexander A. Alberts, wish me luck!

Another thing we can do for jobs is make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Me. Like maybe little action dolls. Me in an army uniform, air force uniform, and me in my suit. They can make toys of me and my vehicle, especially for the holidays and Christmas for the kids. That's something that would create jobs. So you see I think out of the box like that. It's not something a typical person would bring up. That's something that could happen, that makes sense. It's not a joke.

Jesus christ. I wish this was funny, obviously the guy has some serious mental problems.

Well this is entertaining. Were these open primaries? Was he running unopposed? That seems unlikely but I'm just wondering. Still ridiculous. If this turns out to be a "Republican Plant" like people are speculating... it will be an all new low for politics and Republicans will be reeling for years to come. I mean they are in a position where they can make a little bit of a comeback due to Obama's waning popularity and a still fluttering economy... but with stuff like this and that RNC chairman speaking the complete opposite of the RNC's views on Afghanistan... I'm not sure they're going to do much of anything. They're still reeling from Bush's reign of stupidity.

They were open primaries and the guy still hasn't explained where he came up with the $10,000 filing fee. He was running opposed by a well known democratic politician but Alan Green's name came first on the ballot. And apparently in south carolina that's all it takes to win, he got over 60% of the vote.

Really, I think this might just be a joke gotten out of hand...

It doesnt really matter because a Republican always wins that race anyway. He won the primary but will be crushed in the regular election (as the other choice would have been as well)
