Error 0x8007000D: The Data is Invalid... What..? It works though. >_<

So, my music files seem to have a problem to them. In iTunes or Windows Media Player, I can edit them and I can play them without a problem. However, when I go to the file location and proceed to try and manually edit the file, it gives me an error.

I have no idea what is causing it. The files work perfectly fine like I said. I just don't know what seems to be the problem here. If anyone knows what it might be, please help.

I'll type out the error as well in case you can't view the picture.

"An unexpected error is keeping you from applying properties to the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

What do you mean by manually edit the file? Do you mean edit the tags using Explorer? Have you tried eliminating the really obvious, like making sure the file isn't active in iTunes/WMP while you try and edit it? Close them to make sure. Apart from that, it sounds like an Explorer bug, does it happen with all your files? If so, it's more likely to be Explorer that's at fault. Try a dedicated mp3 tag editor, there's decent ones for free.
BTW editing the info in iTunes doesn't make any change to the files themselves, it just changes the iTunes database info relating to the file. Which is fail in itself. Not sure if it's the same in WMP but the WMP tagger has always seemed undependable to me.

Well, yes that's what I meant by manually edit it. I'll right click it and go to properties and then go to details, and I'll input the genre or the track or something of the sort, and it gives me that error when I go to apply it.

It doesn't happen to all of my files, but it happens to a rather gigantic portion of them. I just don't understand how it won't work, but the file in itself works perfectly fine in everything I use it in.

I know editing the file in iTunes doesn't accomplish anything. However, I need to keep to keep that clean as well because I own an iPod Touch.

Anyway, that's beyond the point. I can manually edit it with a separate tag editor.

Does anyone have an idea on what the problem is?
