Just talked with the shotgun guy and he gave me permission to use his traps... but how do I get past the roof? Whats my next step?

Not quite sure where you mean, but if you are near the electric gate you need to go into the house with the big fire in front (switch off the gas and thereby the fire at the barrel), or if you have proceeded a bit it ought to be straightforward... there is one stage where you have to jump in "the water pot" as the dude above wrote, the big water holder thing.

Mm , I don't get it... water pot? Where is that one?... and how do u get there (might sound stupid but I'm really tired from work)

right where the guy threw the shotgun from... look to the right, and there is a big water tower kinda thing.... jump from the roof into it
