RE: 5 In-game or ?

If you watch the video there's no way the background could be a 2D image. The camera moves around way too much. It's probably going to be more like RE4 than the rest of the RE games.

That's pant-creaming stuff.

I can imagine that being in-game. Let's face it. It's next-gen! High resolutions, anti-aliasing, high detailed models, HDR rendering.. etc. etc. etc.

in some news I saw that the creators say that every hair of the beard is a poligon model, even every muscle was modelled and teeths but the creator say that is unsure that the next could handle it

also it say that the creator hav played half-life2 and was impressed how the history is telled whiout cutscenes

That form of story telling will be adopted more and more. From my interview with Ritual at www.sinepisodes.net it looks as though they might do the same with SiN Episodes.

If games like Resident Evil can pull it off too, that'd be sweet :)

Let's hope so :)

I doubt those visuals will be possible on any of the next generation hardware. Towards the end of the consoles life span when developers know the consoles in and out you might get something close. If you'd read an interview with one of the guys at Capcom you'd realize they spent a great deal of time making that movie, and that was just pre-rendered stuff. Imagine how long it'd take to do it in real time? Never mind the amount of power you'd need to harness.

Well the Alan Wake graphics is far from this but it still looks too good, think its pre-rendered also ?

The first screenshot looks hand drawn*, second one looks rendered.

They're both from the same video. I saw it on some French site.

I fail to see where the word "artist" is in that statement.

Making a entire game to look like that would be extremely, extremely time consuming.

Indeed, human limits will eventually cap off the quality of games produced, which invariably leads to worse, high budget games, and then lack of reason for companies to develop them, which will leave PC gaming dead. Developing a game for a console is so much easier, anyway.

Consoles aren't exactly escaping technology either. As a matter of fact, we are talking about a console game.

Yeah, I didn't understand his logic either...

Exactly.
