RE4 Wiii Vids

I plain refuse to buy it again. Even though it looks awesome, the Wii is awesome and it may give us an indication just how slick [Umbrella Chronicles] may turn out to be.

My copy has been reserved for a couple of weeks now. Already have the PS2 version, but the Wii controls for it make me shiver with anticipation!!

I plain refuse to buy it again.

That's been my stance for a while, but then I figured revisiting RE4 with Wii controls will still be much more fun than 90% of games coming out in the near future. I guess this says more about how much a joy it is to play games on the Wii than RE4 or using a pad - never a chore, the playing itself is fun.

Wii > *

(243 at Wii Bowling btw - bring it on)

I want this game. Now. NOW!

Controls look superb :) I might buy it, not sure. I already bought and beat RE4 on GC. If it was like $30 I'd buy it, no question :P

The game comes out today in the U.S..... did anyone pick it up? Would love to hear any impressions of the Wii features etc.

After playing some RE4 on my dusty old cube yesterday, I believe the new extra content may be worth revisiting the game for.

(Bump).

One more week until the UK release. :D

I will let you know when I pick my copy up tomorrow (unless they get it in the store tonight!!). I can't wait to see how it plays with the Wii controllers--I am anticipating: Awesome.

According to Eurogamer it's yet another Wii game that is just ****ed up by being shoe horned onto the Wii controller. Their reviews are usually pretty spot on.

Weird, IGN said the controls improved the experience barring a few silly "waggle the controller" bits. They gave it a 9.0 because it's 2 years later. They also said it was the best of the 3 versions.

I don't know... I like Eurogamer as much as many people here but their review just doesn't convince me that RE4 Wii Edit suffers due to the motion controls. If it's anything like aiming in Twilight Princess then it will get some getting used to, yes, but overall when it has sank in it becomes second nature.

My only real concern (going by some vids on youtube as well as EG) is the scripted button pressing sequences. The Krauser sequence was hard enough in the original, I hope the Wii doesn't over complicate it.

1up - 8/10
Gamespot - 9.1
IGN - 9

So far user impressions have been very positive and reviews slightly mixed, but far from bad. My friend has a japanese copy and he rates it highly - 'there's no way you could go back to playing it with a pad'.

I know what you're saying, Cormeh. A few people levelled the same criticism at TP and couldn't have been more wrong. Try playing Zelda with a pad after you're used to using the Wiimote and, novelty factor aside (something people often confuse with being bad - feeling new is a good thing), the experience is that much less immediate/user friendly/enjoyable. I suspect the case will be the same again with the Wii version of RE4 (there's always the option to use a pad if you're wiimote challenged)

Let's try not be too harsh either - we're getting a cheap update of a (superb) GC game with a new control scheme that, according to some people, is much better than using a pad.

And the extra content of the PS2 version. :)

Looks great. Hope I can get it before I go on vacation.

I'm envious, sea. I'd love to play RE4 again for the first time. You are spoilt with this version! :)

Hey Corporal! Is that my Chuck Norris Mii?

You just had to add on yet another didn't you

Yeah actually ... the only Wiimake I've played that has actually been improved by the experience was Godfather, surprisingly enough. I haven't played RE4 yet on it so I can't comment on that though.

This controller isn't the second coming of Christ. Taking old games and throwing them at it does not usually work. Though RE4 does seem uniquely fitted to it on paper.

Is it? I don't know, I found it in google and knew I had to have it for avatar. If it is yours congratulations on making it, it's awesome!

If it is anything near as good as the new Harry Potter game for the Wii, then I will be totally in love for a long time to come. Man, work can't end fast enough!!

Gawd, I'm playing it in dribs and drabs on the GC and I'm miserable at this game now.

*****SPOILERS HEREIN!*****

Struggled to survive the village (Dr. Salavdor area), struggled on Del Lago, struggled at the beginning of 1-2 (valley with the two emblem halves), made a ton of mistakes against El Gigante and struggled with great pain defending the cabin. /o\

This is on EASY too. :(

I'll be playing the Wii version on NORMAL though. So, how 'bout we discuss some weapon planning and area tactics? :E

So far, I've opted to sell the Handgun as soon as I've completed the blue medallion/punisher task, and used the punisher until the Red9 became available which I purchased (minus stock) and upgraded as far as it would go.

I've kept the basic shottie, but I doubt it'll hold out without upgrades until the Striker becomes available. So I may go for the Riot Gun and up that as far as possible.

Not got a rifle yet, but I might have to buy the bolt action before I hit the castle, because I'm certain the Auto Rifle isn't available for a while.

*****HERE ENDETH SPOILERS*****

I hope to improve my playing a fair bit in a short time. Then I can have fun getting used to the Wii controls. :p

Just got it last night and played through the first hour or so. I have only played the PS2 version previously. The Wii controls take some getting used to, but once you do you will not be able to go back to the analog sticks. Choosing where on your target you want to hit is so much easier now so taking out legs/arms/heads is great great fun and makes for a much more agreeable experience. Getting used to the controls in the village can be tough though, esp. through that first horde, but the results are much more satisfying and intuitive. I've never had so much fun shooting things in a game before!

If you have a Wii, there is no excuse not to get this game, even if you have played it before. It is easily one of the strongest titles out there for the system and I can't wait for more like it to come out!! Are you listening Capcom???

Sounds good. I plan to pick this up next week, funds permitting. Should provide enough zombie killing action (yeh, I know they're not 'proper' zombies) untill Umbrella Chronicles comes out :)

Yeah, once I saw some vids of UC in action I decided then and there that it would be mine. :D

This is the best $30 you could spend on a new Wii game right now though.

Thing is, I really want Mercury Meltdown. One of them will get bought next week, the other soon after :)

Don't buy the Riot Gun. It's cheaper to upgrade the standard Shotgun, and the Shotgun's main purpose tends to be to knock down hordes of enemies. The Riot Gun provides faster aiming in the original game, but as far as I know that's a moot point on the Wii due to the new controls. The only pistol worth getting is the Red9, due to its high damage output and magazine. It does take more inventory space, but honestly if you get the upgraded Attache Cases, that's not even a problem by the end of the game. All you need, really, is the Shotgun, Red9, Semi-Auto Rifle, Broken Butterfly, and grenades. You'll have more than enough space for healing items and ammo that way. I find that guns like the Mine Thrower and TMP just aren't worth the money. If you pick up and combine all the treasures listed on the Treasure Map, you shouldn't even have to worry about ever running low, either, so you can get a head start on saving for the Hand Cannon and Chicago Typewriter.

Hmm... the Striker's not bad, it gives a bigger spread / faster reload / firing rate and if I'm not mistaken, more damage as well. The TMP is a great gun though, it eats up ammo like nobodies business but it's a godsend vs fast enemies / bosses like Krauser.

Well, I'm at the bane of my life right now - the chair/box lifts before the chief fight.

SO! I think I might take my chances with the standard shottie until the striker becomes available. The thing that tips the balance for me is the striker has (IMO) the better exclusive than the shotgun. I know the riot gun is the dull dishwater medium-range effort, but in terms of first playthrough to second it may have been a more prudent choice.

Still not bought a rifle. \o/

Cripes, finished already? :p

I guess I've lost my touch. Anyhow, I think I'll go and put Mendez in his grave. I've got a ton of 'nades to use.

they gave it 9.1 @ gamespot....... i am getting this.
