So frustrated and upset about half lif 2.
1) Bought the day it came out only to have it sit all day long,unable to register with steam( they did not have enough servers to handle everyone). Very much against this steam idea. I understand the company wants to protect their product but this has been very consumer unfriendly. Register product to play single player game, also to download additional files to put the game together in order for one to play the game. Awful idea.
2) Now for the biggie. Application error every few minutes when playing the game-can not load instruction ox241f8977 referenced memory at oxo1c9f5co memory could not be read......Called tech support and have made many changes, nothing helps so tomorrow sending them my dxdiag.
3) In conclusion too many problems for $60, game should play right out of the box. I have a high ended system and latest drivers for everything. Plus, many other people having similiar problems to mine. What gives????? :flame:

Same here. Have yet to encounter a problem with Steam.

well mine had the same problems as his and it turned my screen upside down i had 2 use system restore 2 get it 2 work

The future of PC gaming for many people. If they are having this much grieff from the most anticipated PC game of all time then what are they going to think about the future of the platform?

Roll on XBox 2 I say - Put your DVD in, Switch on, Start playing. That's the future. Nevermind all this patch/update, Tweak/fix nonsense. That's not to mention the sheer expense of PC gaming. I spent about £350 upgrading my PC over the last year in readiness almost exclusively with HL2 in mind! What a waste of money as I still can't play it :angry:

Never accept something that is wrong. Being pushed into instaling Steam just so you can install HL2 and then have to be online so the game can be unlocked and cd key verified is BS. I have also noticed if HL2 is doing a update it has to finished or you can not play on or offline untill it is done. Here is my list of things that need to be done by Valve or else I am done with them.

Full game install (no internet unlocking of files or anything else)

No Steam, I have never used it before and with my Sat. conection playing online for me is worthless

A simple code from a phone call to Valve to unlock the game would of been good enought.

Oh one last note. I Formated my game rig and tryed to install HL2 back on it and when I get to disk 4 I get a error that data is missing or internet connection is offline. The cd's have no scraches on them. O fun I am having. :bounce:

PS Don't think for one minute they would not try this kind of activation BS with your game consouls.

The disk 4 bug can often be solved by choosing a full installation that includes Counterstrike: Source.
