Microwave gun.

You get the magnetron in a mw oven and feed it DC 3000V, and it creates microwaves that rattle water molecules and boil them.

Using this as a weapon: Baked enemy combatants. Destroyed electronics.

Put a shiny metal deflector, a generator, wire it up a bit, and there you have it, a microwave gun that bakes your enemies from the inside out. Best put on an APC.

Just some idea I had.

It's so old finding a link would be a pain, but basically it shoots a high energy beam that causes the person insane pain, but once removed, the pain instantly goes away.

Ok, that is not a microwave gun. Pain is not the issue here. Baking people is the issue here. Frying electronics is too.

There's microwave bombs (or guns, can't remember) to disable electronics too. Used for the first time in Iraq 2003.

Don't they already jam electronics with radio waves? I'm guessing it does a good enough job.

But are there any to BAKE PEOPLE?

Bleh. :(

You'd need a generator as big as a cargo container to create a beam as powerful as you describe.

:(

Darn. *throws notes away*

I guess back to the workshop for me.

Not really, a microwave oven doesn't need one.

Yeah but if you used the magnetron from a household microwave oven you'd have to ask your enemy to stand still for 4 and a half minutes on a rotating plate whilst you slowly try to cook them......only to discover that you've set the frigging thing on defrost........:flame:

*PIIINGGG* - i think this thread is well and truly overcooked. :p

There was a microwave emitter in Batman Begins. What disturbs me is that only the water in the sewers evaporated then, not any people. So I guess it was a weak wave that couldn't penetrate the skin.

Didn't they try this in MythBusters? And Fail?

Yeah the Japanese were researching this in 1940....

I microwaved some sausages today. Just looking at them almost made me vomit.

Somehow I don't think your the first person to think "hmm what if my microwave was a weapon"

I microwaved a pizza today, and as I opened the door it slowly deflated and whelped at me for mercy.

I gave it a proper funeral. *Flush*

You would be more effective taking a 50000 watt radio tower and point it straight at the enemy. Microwaves use radio waves.

Your microwave is connected to a power plant. :|

Also the microwaves are bounced around inside, so they are reused in the cooking process. Yeah...

15357 just wants to shoot em at spray cans

Look, Numbers, there is mention of this (and many other insanely cool weapons) in Matthew Reily's Scarecrow. Take a peak at the rest of his books as well

Bliink built something like this before D:

-Angry Lawyer

:D

Yeah... I already beat you, numbers!

You need to have a parabolic shield over the emitter on the magnetron, and put a faraday cage around the rest of the guns casing, or it probably gives you cancers or something.

Problems you will find: One microwave's magnetron isnt enough for an effective deathray. The frequency is very unpredictable.

How about dozens? Of course, it would have to be mounted on a behicle, but fried everything!

Besides, the frequency won't desstabilize unless you change the amps.

1) An array of weak beams isn't so special... it would be better to build a bigger one from scratch, but the us army already has one of those mounted on a humvee that it intends to use for crowd control. Look up military "pain beams" for more info

2) It still does because the hardware its running through isn't physically stable enough, or the power isnt constant enough, or somethings not working right- its consumer electronics after all. its a dull sword of sorts. anyway, you're reminding me of another weapon I thought of, and that uses rapidly phasing EM waves to effectively short circuit peoples brains. I havent tried building that though, because it would probably work, and thus kill me.

I'll have to remember to never get on your bad side. I don't like being death-rayed.

Plus, enough microwave beams will certainly cause death, but a very, very, very painful death, where as you say people will be "Cooked from the inside out", which is probably in a serious breach of the the moral rights and probably a war crime. Like I said, somehow read the pages from Scarecrow that dictate the use of the microwave trap.

Also, a wikilink

how about some kind of weapon that fires rocks or something really fast

Like a rail gun or IRONSTORM gun?

I only use the death-ray to create test subjects for my (as yet unsuccessful) life-ray ;)

You're looking for a mass driver... basically, you build one on the moon, then shoot boulders/asteroids at people/houses/cities on earth that you dont like.

Ma'am, you MUST teach me the art of energy weapons! :D

All's fair in love and war. Besides, cooking someone from the inside out would make the guy explode, due to pressure build up.
