Read this if you want a faster game loading.

Hello, just found a quick tweak for those who doesn't like the 2mins loading when you startup the game...

Open the file "valve.rc" located in:
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\****@****.com\half-life 2\hl2\cfg with NotePad.

Then remove this:
// display the startup level
startupmenu

Exit & Save... Now the game will start much more faster. It remove the 3D background.

Have fun!

Is there a "heapmegs" or a "hunkmegs" type of command in hl2 to allocate more ram to the game?

squid add -heapsize 256000 or 512000 or whatever to launch options in steam (right click on half life 2 and go to properties)

you can turn off the 3d background without hacking and destroying it very easily, so toss out your method.

You can take out the extra // if you want to return it to normal later.
