"Real" desktop?

Umm... I think the benefit of the typical computer desktop is that you don't deal with piles. And it's a hell of a lot more organized.

It's a cool concept, but the prospect of having to dig through the inevitable mess of files scattered willy nilly turns me off.

doesn't seem like much of a problem really.

Did you see how they programmed in piles?

You just hit an icon and the icon is neatly spread out arround your desktop.

Or you could leaf through it one by one, if you're going through images.

Or you could fan it out, if you want a general idea for comparing shit.

I think it would be cool when we're all using VR gloves like in Minority Report.

would be cool with photo albums. not desktop icons though... i want my icons in an exact known position on my desktop so its that much easier to find.

this 'solution' was to the problem of a cluttered desktop - something that only happens because microsoft chose to make the desktop the first choice of where to download things and people less computer savvy don't understand how to keep their desktop clean.

third time this has been posted....
second time this week....
still nifty tho.

I did, and it still didn't appeal to me. Perhaps if I actually had some hands-on integration, it would be nice. But until then... nah.

It still just seems like an unorganized mess. I prefer having my icons gridlocked.

You can't... that idea is stupid. I play to win, not to impress my senses!

As it is, what they showed in that demo is pretty useless. Who cares if you can do all that stuff with icons, even if you can see their file names? When you have things arranged like that on your desk, you can actually see the content of the objects on it. So unless they can figure out how to give you a fair amount of insight into the content of the things you're looking through, I'll say this looks cool - but is more useless than what I've got now.

it can be used for a different purpose it dosent have to be meant for desktop
