I would really like to know, is there anyone out there that is making a real map?

Not aim maps, not little dm maps... but a real detailed source map..i have yet to see one user made map really wow me.. where is 3dmike :p

Anyways if there are any in production please post some screens here and show that there is some talent working on this game.. i see alot of custom maps in hl2 DM, and it saddens me. :smoking:

Thanks

most people don't bother with that because you spend way more effort on it and then like 3 people play it and it's forgotten.

well i have seen one map that is based upon his entire school building which is really good and the building is really modern looking

Agreed, I haven't seen any good CS:Source maps that look like the maker really put time & effort into it to make you want to play it.

not sure if this qualifies but there's someone who posted about a quality nuke remake

Well those are the maps i quoted as "shit"... im talking about quality maps, that are replayed alot .. ie: cs 1.6 maps

I wish someone would re-create a real-life site.

Hell, look at regular CS. No one really plays custom maps unless its a cyber cafe based server.

A friend and I are working incredibly slowly on an Eiffel tower based hostage map. Hostages and Terrorists at the top, CTs at the bottom. Could make some very claustrophobic combat. Still a working project though.

lol i know a guy who is doing almost the exact same thing

I'm tinkering with a hoover dam map kinda like the first Ranbow six map. The projects on hold for a bit though until I finish answering all the FBI's questions about my intensive searches for floor plans and blue prints to hoover dam....

FBI: "We'd like to ask you a few questions. You've shown a great deal of interest in the layout of the Hoover dam lately."

Me: "Yep that's right. I'm making a mod for a computer game that is set at the dam."

FBI: "Oh ok I see. Tell me more abut the game."

Me: "Sure it's really going to be cool. I'm trying to figure out the best locations for a bomb plant within the dam that could conceivably take out the dame with a single small charge."

FBI: "Hmmmm.... You were asking about the generator room.?"

Me: "Yeah... Plan B here was to find a somewhat secure area to hold anywhere from 2 -6 hostages. Somplace that would be easier to defend than assualt."

FBI: "Mmmmm K. And you working on this by youself?"

Me: "Oh no... My friend Mike is working on the weapons. I just do maps."

FBI: "Mike you say... Is Mike from around here?"

Me: "Oh no. I've only ever met Mike on the internet. We haven't met in perso because he's from Spain. He does really good AK's & M4's. You can IRC him under the name. 'Doctor Evil'.

FBI: " Yeah ok you're coming with me.Step away from teh keyboard."

awesome! I think it will make some awesome gameplay.

Does anyone remember a cs 1.5 map where you were in a skyscraper it it way mostly grey. There where two bomb locations and if the terrorists where fast enough they could boost each other into a room ride beside the bomb site by their spawn. The map was only two levels high and there was 2 ramps leading to the top level. It was one of my favorite maps but I only saw it on the clan server I usually played on. Oh and if you got to close to the edge you would fall off. Counter terrorists started on the top of the map, and terrorists on the bottem. If I could find out the name of the map and who made it I would like to ask permission to remake the map because I thought it was really good.

Do you de_vertigo blackeye. Yeah its was pretty fun, especially when you hear a faint scream in the distance and then sucide logo on the top corner. Only thing annoying was the footsteps that you could hear almost everywhere, ended up walking most of the time.

Thanks. I just looked at some screen shots and that is the map I was talking about. If I made a remake of that map I would fix the footstep problem and add some more atmosphere to the map. Maybee I would add in some glass instead of having it so open. I dont know I would have to see the difference in game. If I got permission I would like to stay true to the original map though and then maybee make a second version with some of my own modifications.
