Guys I've found a new hobby and it's fun. Basically, me and a huge group of guys I know get together every other weekend and go out on an area of terrain and have us a simulated war. We call it a R.M.W.S., or realistic military war simulation (yeah, it's meant to be corny).

Anyway, this is one of the funnest things I've even done. It's great fun. We use paintball guns of course, no one gets hurt. The field of play is HUGE, it's a big World War II military training field full of hilly areas, sand traps, and our own river and bridges (or as we call it "Ambush City"). Total its roughly 2 km. However the entire base is around 30, we expand or close in depending on the number of people we have.

We take the game very seriously. We try to get it as close to the real thing as possible. We have ranks and plans. Endless plans of attack. We take reconnaissance, we deploy flanks, we set up CPs, we even have supply lines. We even have some ex-marines that come play every once in a while (yes, they kick ass). It's all great fun.

We started off with about 30 on each side. Now we are closing in on 60 and expanding rapidly with every game. Anyway, just thought I'd share this with you guys. If it sounds interesting to you, might wanna try it with a close group of friends. It's safe, it's fun, and it's a great way to get some exercise for both the body and brain.

Now if we can only rent a few Blackhawks. :P

Awesome. I love paintball. Especially when you try and make it real. You guys might want to use airsoft guns. Those look like real guns. And if you are playing WW2 style, they make thompson WW2 guns and such. Ill have to try it sometimes. Sounds really really fun, where do you live?

oh and there are no blackhawks in WW2, silly.

We're not trying to make it World War II themed we just play on an old WWII field, although thats defiantly a possibility. I live in Louisiana, so yeah, theres tons of rural areas and guns around here. Lots of guns. :)

A bunch of people have gotten air soft pistols as sidearms and just buy the paintball BBs.

And I forgot: anyone that lives in LA and wants to come is welcome. We can always use more players. PM me for details.

i can never get that many people together when i play paintball. the more you have the more fun it is. the average we get is around 8-10 people. its nice that you have that many people together at one time.

If you want to increase the realism get Airsoft guns and Kevlar

lol, I think Kevlar might be taking it a little to far. What the hell does a Kevlar suit run you nowadays?

$600...don't be such a pussy, take one for the team!

Believe me, I've had my fair share of getting popped in the arse while trying to flank a machine gun nest. I've taken alot for the team.

We use paintballs because it helps distinguish who got hit and who hit them. For those who think getting hit with a paintball doesn't hurt enough to make you think faster, act faster, and move faster: come play with us. We'll give you a crash course in "ambush and bait". :P

airsoft guns are fun and look realistic, but the weight behind a paintball and its effects on debris and such are much more realistic than little platic pellets.

Our "death system" is still "under development" so to speak but the basic rules are:

-If you get hit in a limb twice, your out. (Arm, arm- leg ,arm- leg, leg-etc.)
- If you get hit in the torso or head once, your out.

We also have special rules for snipers because, naturally, a Sniper Rifle can shoot a limb straight off.

Oh yeah, we also have a nice "death" lounge. Complete with a bathroom, water coolers, TV, and Xbox. And its air conditioned.

I wish I lived in your area. About how many people join the game?

Recently? 60ish per team so around 120. It's really gotten around. We've had people from all over the state come. We increase in number at every game. Plus we have a big bar-be-que also. That attracts alot of people.

You do this every other weekend?

If you don't mind me asking where at in LA? I live in Bakersfield and I wouldn't mind driving down every once and a while for a good match if its as well done as you guys describe.

After someone is tagged how long do you guys keep them out of the game? Assuming that you let them rejoin the battle at all.

It sounds like you guys have a nice field to play on, is this an actual commercial field? IE. able to buy more ammo and CO2 possibly rent some gear?

Camp Clayborne. No it's not a commercial field at all. Its, as I've said, realistic. Looks like a real battlefield. It's got a wide variety of settings. Sandy dunes, forest areas, and grassy plains. We do have a place close by to buy CO2 and paintballs and such.

Holy crap... so jealous... gonna kill something...

I was pissed off, when I went up to the house full of opposition, and shot wildly inside. I was told that I wasn't allowed to do that, I was supposed to capture the flag. In the end, I was disqualified and was out. Does that happen in real life

If you play with us that won't happen. the only rule is don't get hit and don't hit your teammates.

interesting, too bad i live on the other side of the planet   :E
it's really fun to play with serious people (obey the rules), just one asshole can ruin the whole game! what do you do then, put him in front of the "firing squad" :E :E :E hehe, that too would be very realistic
