Really annoying error

Debug Assertion Failed comes up when i'm in the middle of a game and I have to restart my PC because it crashes. It also comes up at the start when i turn my PC on.

When i press abort, steam comes off.
when i press retry it keeps appearing.
when i press ignore it goes away but it take steam off.

Looks like you'll have to reinstall Steam, because the program itself looks borked.

Might you be using any sort of pirated applications?

I'll do without then i'm NOT uninstalling it. I've had too much trouble with that

and sinkoman if that means a crack version or anything like that the answer is no.

Well, no, not a crack version.

But do you have any applications (ANY, not just hl2) that you maybe torrented or dlled off kazzaa *shudder*?
