really weird - need help

Ok so this is very strange :

All of a sudden my internet seemingly stops working..but here's the catch. I can still go on hl2.net, pixel2life, garrys mod site, and PHW comics, but every other site including google won't load. This happens often and out of the blue and frankly Im starting to get annoyed with it, can anyone tell me why it's not working?

Im using firefox browser (tested in opera and IE 6 still doesn't work) , and on a wireless connection.

No, I didn't change any settings.. and this is sporatically this happens. Sometimes they work other times they don't.

The only thing I can suggest (if you haven't tried already) is scanning the system for spy/adware and restarting.

Pretty lame but it might work.

np, oh and I just restarted windows xp, and now I can get on those pages..I have no idea what's going on but it's definitly not my connection (the pages I can get onto work perfectly, and if I can connect to those sites, then my internet is obviously working).

Do you have a router?

I have a (pretty shoddy) router, and it has a blacklist of bad sites. For some reason when that blacklist gets full, all http stops working.

Anyway I managed to reconfigured the firmware config file to disable blacklisting. Stupid thing to have in firmware anyway.

I don't know how to solve your problem. To be personally frank I'm having a few adware related problems myself, but not hardware threatening

Do you have a bandwidth limit? When I used to have one (I'm on wireless) I would experience trouble with web pages except for the ones I recently viewed, probably because most of the page was cached.

That's a good point.

When it next happens, fine a site that still works and then press Ctrl+F5. Does it load it from the webserver correctly, or does it now give you a Cannot find server error message?

If it works, then it's still a mystery.

If it doesn't work then those sites you mentioned still work because they've been cached on your computer. Therefore your whole internet connection has gone down.

hmm im noticing something..it seems every time Im done playing a game (DoD source, CS Source) this bug/glitch occurs..

and I dont think my whole internet has gone down because I can still connect to xfire and AIM

Id like to mention this only seems to occur with Steam Source games (havent tried 1.6 games)..and Chris D...CTRL+F5 works fine.

Can anyone help. This is definitly only happening with Steam Source games, Quake 4, SWAT 4, FEAR MP dont do this..cs source,hl2dm,dod source, ect make me lose my internet connection except for recently viewed sites?
