Why does no one think of giving humanity's greatest hero vital codes to help him navigate the many locked doors of various rebel bases? It's like they think that whenever he needs a lock undone, there'll always be someone to help!

2. Gordon can't be bother with this kind of trivial nonsense.

3. Whenever Gordon encounters a closed door it gives him an excuse to get sidetracked, find new weapons and kill more stuff.

Its just one of those things game devs use to keep the game together. There are also hundreds of times when Gordon could simply climb over a 5 foot tall wall, but no, he had to go 50 zombies or combine or HECU.
