I'm having a hard time finding a quality set of speakers for under $150CAN. I think I'm leaning towards the Creative Inspire P7800 7.1 Speaker System. I'm looking for either a 5.1 or 7.1 system, but would prefer 7.1. What do you guys use?

You won't get true 7.1 surround sound with the audio card you have, most likely (even if it says 7.1). I'd go for the 5.1 because the power isn't split between so many speakers.
If you could spend a little extra, these are well worth it. There is a big difference in quality/power between that price range and this price range.

What are you going to be using them for most often?

Well, I constantly have music going, but I also play a fair amount of games, so I'd say they'd be split pretty evenly between the two. I guess I should have mentioned that I'd prefer a set that sound good with music and gaming.
Also, my card will be a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

This isn't supposed to be a hard decision, most stuff above $30 is worth it from my experience.

I think a lot of people would disagree with that
If I'm going to spend $150 on something, I'm not just going to randomly pick something up

I own the 5300 they are pritty sexy. A lotta people knock on the legth of the cable i just got some some extra cable and its fine.

Well if youre gonna buy some nice 5.1 speakers, you might as well get the most out of them with a real sound card. Any Audigy has a noticable increase in quality over onboard.

Yeah, if you go 5.1 use the Audigy.

Personally, the sub 100$ 5.1 speakers are a little too weak for my tastes and so that's why I have the Z2300 (2.1) set. The same series as the Z5300 but without the center/rear speakers. Awesome for music and stereo games, a lot better than my old 100$ creative 5.1 set.
