I'm currently reading It, and I can say without hyperbole that it is one of the most engrossing books I've read. I can't believe I've lived 17 years without reading as much as one King novel prior to this. So yeah, being independent sucks, so tell me which work of his to read next. I've heard The Stand was great, so I'm thinking about reading that.

i heard his older books are better than his newer ones, but i have yet to read them as well. i have The Cell and the watchtower or something like that

The green mile wasn't creepy, but I heard it was good.

If you read King, you need to read Michael Crichton also. Because you can't pass up on Jurassic Park.

Read:

The Stand

The Dark Tower series

The Cell

Those are the ones I enjoyed

This sentence also starts with a T

Green Mile and Firestarter are both awesome.

Dreamcatcher is complete ass.

I haven't read any of his others.

It was, in my opinion, one of his best books. The Stand is worth a read. He's got a number of short story anthologies that are nice too. It was only one of two books that creeped me out enough to put the book down for a second.

Best novel: The Stand.
Best short story: The Long Walk.

im reading the stand right now. its massive, especially since the last book i read outside of school was atlas shrugged, but so far its pretty damn good.

Are you reading the original or extended version? The extended one is the best but it's something like 1100 pages.

I remember Desperation being a cool book when I read it as a teen, despite its Christian proselytic overtones in places.
