i have a strange affinity for slow, solemn, sad music sparklehorse is often described as "american gothic". considering how many people on these boards like punk and metal, it'll probably drive you all batty, which is why i recommend it

Really interesting Norwegian band. Blends heavy stuff with norse mythology. Not metal, but more rock-ish.
