Recommendations on RAM

I've got 512mb RAM and i'm thinking of upgrading. The only problem is i dont have enough money, and i'm not sure whether i should upgrade to 1 gig or just 768mb.

Any idea's? I've got about $150 (AUD)

yes, im doing that right now on my nf7-s. 1 512 corsair, 1 512 kingmax.
