how do you get rid of the hud and stuff?

use fraps
theres a console command, "drawhud 0" or something

fraps only records like 30 seconds for me

Step 1

when you are watching your movie, put this in console

startmovie moviename.dem 30

The startmovie is to start the process, movie name is to find the file and 30 is the fps you want it

This will convert the .dem to bmp pictures, there will be lots depending on how long it goes for. Also it will take a a large amount of space, keep that in mind

Step 2

Go here "http://www.soft32.com/download_18217.html" and download videomach

Now go into the directory of HL2 (most likely in steam/steamapps/ folder) there should be alot of bmps in there. Now you can either cut and paste them all into a folder saving time to reach them or leave them.

Install videomach and open the folder where the bmps are, select the amount you want, once you have done click on the save(floppy disk) and choose your settings. You can add effects to it but you shold only need to do that to make the avi, it seems like alot but once you get used to it, it is as easy as your abc's .

To record sound you will need a program called goldwave(there are others but this is 1 of the best)

if u want the console down open steam...
play games then the game u want.... go to properties on the steam menu in the games and launch options there u type -console
den press enter go out of every thing restart steam and start the game u will start the game whit a console open

i want to bind a command that removes the gun and HUD from view. so the movie looks better, dont want to make movies until i can do this

removing the gun is possible .. i gotta look up the command
removing the crosshair -> crosshair 0
removing hud -> i dont think its possible

PLEASE DONT USE FRAPS AND GOLDWAVE
your recording will be choppy and out of synch ... y the hassle when you can do it ingame with constant framerates and wav sound output?

OK "hidehud 1" removes the health and power
"crosshair 0" removes the + sign

now i need to remove:
the circle around the +
The Ammo HUD
i would like to know how to remove the weapon for screenshots
