Is there a way to record Half Life and its mods and expansions without using Fraps?
I tried doing it the same way we use Half Life 2, but it comes out as jpegs :(

Please.

I videoed the game as I was playing it. The only problem was the sound wasn't in synch with the action.

oh damn there is a way..

Its a console command that takes so many screenshots a second *usually 30* and then you compile it into a video...

But damn if I can remember the command.

Uh... record a demo of whatever happens in the game, then:

sv_cheats 1
host_framerate 30
startmovie <moviename> avi
(select a codek - Cinepak seems to work pretty well)
playdemo <demo name>
(wait for the demo to finish; it'll lag like hell, 'cause it's recording everything)
endmovie

Your PC struggles to play the game. You even need to use console commands to downgrade it further, just to get it playable. Why, oh why, do you seem to think your PC will be able to run the game AND record it at the same time? Would it be laggy IF you could? Yes. Would anyone want to watch HL2 in the lowest, laggyest graphics ever? Probably not.

I clearly said I wanted to record Half Life, not Half Life 2. :sniper:

I don't remember him asking for an opinion on if someone would want to watch a laggy video....lets take a step back and look to see what he was asking.

Oh, he was asking if there was a way to record a game of Half-Life without using FRAPs. I could have sworn you jump all over the newbs for not reading/understand YOUR posts. Damn, I never thought you'd be a hypocrite !

Hang on, is this the guy with less then 512mB of RAM?

1278MB? An awfully bizarre (and seemingly impossible) number for RAM. RAM comes in pretty specificly numbered sized sticks - 128MB, 256MB, 512MB etc. Also, 128 x 2 = 256, 256 x 2 = 512 etc, so you will ALWAYS get one of those values. 1GB is 1024MB, and a common number. If some strange person then added a lowly 256MB to that, they would get 1024 + 256 = 1280MB. Where has 2MB of his gone? Did it run away with his HL2 flashlight? Perhaps his "rubbish" Windows defender ate it?...

Angry? Lol. I'm not angry. Condescending, good looking, smart, playful, provocative, informative, helpful and tired perhaps, but not angry.
