I have been reading that Red Alert should work fine under linux with Wine. However when I try to launch the game I get this:

Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0"

Anyone know what could be causing this? I have the dri module loaded under XFree86 configuration.

The problem is your trying to run games on an OS that isn't meant for games. Might be easier to use a gaming OS such as Windows to run games. You will have a larger variety of games on a gaming OS rather than a non gaming OS.

Just to let you know, it's the 21st Century, and Linux has a range of DirectX/Windows emulators which allow you to run games such as Half Life 2 and, in Chrysalid case, Red Alert.

And it isn't the OS that is made for gaming, its the games that are made for the OS.

Chrysalid, are you running a dual monitor set up or something?

Also, it might be best if you bring this to Linux forum, like www.monkeh.net and www.linuxquestions.org
Most people use Windows here, and are themselves very new to linux.

I'm sorry I can not be much of a help myself
