I was reading the paper (yes reading the paper) and I saw this article

The Red Cross is threatening to prosecute makers of video games that depicts the organisation as warmongers
For nearly 150 years, its emblem has been the international symbol of medical aid in war zones.
The furious Red Cross chiefs now claim their "Don't Shoot" logo is being undermined.
Dozens of games, such as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and others based on World War II feature the red cross motif.
Many also have so-called health packs, which players use to revive themselves after being shot at, featuring the prominent red crosses.
Other, more extreme, examples include mobile army hospital units that can be used to attack an opponent. Yet global law says millitary medical officers can only be lightly armed (ergo a handgun) and fire in self defence.
British Red Cross head of interntional law, Michael Meyer, said "The use of the emblem in video games is both illegal and detrimental to its special protective value. The emblem is an internationally agreed symbol of neutral protection. It is used in armed conflicts to safeguard the wounded and sick who seek to help them in a neutral and impartial way. To preserve the special significance and protective force of the Red Cross emblem there are international and national laws restricting its use."
Meyer said the games developers who continually flouted the law would be prosecuted.

Look out Activison and Valve eh? I honestly never knew that.

That's stupid, how are you supposed to know what is health or ammo!?!

They will just have to change the symbol slightly or stop degrading it.

What game acually uses the red cross emblem for anything other than health kits or medics? Sounds like they're just being assholes. I can't think of any game that 'degrades' the organization or depicts them as warmongers. It's only used as a symbol for health.

Sucks that the red cross can copyright a red cross.

Seriously though... I don't think 'red cross' when I see that... I think HEALTH, LIFE SAVER!

What if we made a maroon cross? Would that still be illegal, because it's a +?

you could always use the Caduceus or Rod of Asclepius, which is the serpent wound around a sceptre, and the same with wings and two snakes, respectively.

I dunno, makes sense to me.

I don't see why you guys don't agree :/

Well lets face it the Red Cross are getting loads of positive advertising from games
Ingame you see a Red Cross you think holy shit i'm saved, now to patch myself up after taing 2 direct rockets to the face...
In real life on a battlefield you see a Red Cross you think holy shit I'm saved and I might even get a hot nurse...
So you see everyone wins

same thing with WWF.

I would have told them to suck my Dick, tards get over it.

Hmm you'd think Red Cross wouldn't mind too much as, has been said, it is considered a life saver in-game!

QFE, when you see that thing your happy, it gives you health, it always represents something good. I
can understand a little bit if they find medics in bf2 for example offensive cause in bf2 you plainly and agressivly kill as a medic, but those things are WTF.

Just make it COLOR=#f00000 insteed of COLOR=#ff0000
