Red Dots

Hi I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this.
When I turn HDR lighting on in HL2 or any HL2 Mod I get these red dots which flicker/appear in dark areas.
Im running a Radeon 9800XT with Catalyst 6.8 Windows XP drivers installed. DX9 installed aswell.
Strangley if I turn of HDR these red dots vanish. They also constantly appear in dark areas in Prey, Doom 3 (any game running Doom 3 engine).
Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like artifacts.

Maybe your gfx card isn't cooled enough or you've overclocked it too much.

Thanks for your reply, hmm well I have'nt overclocked it cause I don't know how
Cooling I have some pretty serious case fans on my rig plus the card has a decent fan, so I don't see how that could be a problem. Although do you think this could be permenant?

Your card is probably bummed, then. If you keep playing on it, it will get worse. Much worse.

try older video drivers it might fix it but it never hurts to try

Ok well thanks for your replies will try rolling back drivers see if that helps at all.

Yah, as the others said try a rollback .. if that don't work .. new card maybeh ? ;P

also isn't this in the wrong section ?
