Red Orchestra Standalone coming to Steam

excellent
some competition for dodsource - i think the above is the more polished game

im tired of steam having all these "COST MONEY STAND ALONE GAMES" now...

you dont have to buy them
its what steam was made for - distributing quality games without a middle man/ producer

Well steams the middle man here, just with low producing costs.

so .. it'll still be running on the ut2004 engine ? ew

at least it will be more popular now and there might actually be an australian server.

I don't think you quit understand, they own a license to the engine, they can MODIFY it to their liking.

Yeah, it's like all those shops with all those "COST MONEY STANDALONE GAMES" on their shelves. I mean, what are they thinking?

looking forward to this, got tired of it because of the lack of players/lack of teamspeak. im hoping this will boost its popularity (although, funnily enough, almost everyone knows about RO right?)

Does it have bots for offline play? My internet connection always has a pathetic ping for online gaming. Stupid University connection.

i know, but that doesn't change that it's on the ut2004 engine.

i'm deciding whether to re-install ut2004 and install this or wait for the stand-alone, last time i played it it didn't have the best performance + had bugs; i can't wait to try it again though.

I think what hes saying is, since they have a license they can modify the UT2004 eninge in any little way they desire. Meaning the actual engine, the graphics engine on it, the skeletal system etc... Modding dosn't allow you to modify the actual engine.

But it's meaning holds very little.

Exactly. So what if it's on the UT2K4 engine?

Half-Life ran on the Quake engine. Tell me, did you see much similarity there?

why do you peopel care ? seriously.

i said 'ew' about the ut2004 engine (which is actually unreal 2.5), so ? i might say ew about your face, ew about red orchestra, ew about the banner of this forum, i might simply slightly dislike something.

so, if my opinion 'holds very little' i couldn't really care, i in no way degraded the mod/or the engine, i simply said ew.

:x

That's fine. We're just saying that posting "ew" in response to the UT2K4 engine is meaningless and pointless.

so all vague opinions are meaningless and pointless ? let's remove the interweb ! :P

I was considering that too...
Checked the servers on ASE... UT2004 seems to be dying a bit... I'd reinstall it just to play with the muts and bots though, they're a good challenge.

"Gamecloud - After the release of the stand alone Red Orchestra game what are Tripwire's plans for the future?

John Gibson - Well we do have a certain license for the hottest new gaming engine (Unreal Engine 3) that we won in the MSU contest we have to figure out how to use J But for news on what we’ll do with that you’ll just have to stay tuned."

Holy shit, I did NOT know they had a UE3 license, that's nice, hopefully they'll make good use of it after Red Orchestra.:)
