Well, bought the game in November and just did clean windows install to help solve this problem. Also have similiar error when playing world of warcraft. Very frustrated when replaying half-life 2 to see this error crash me again. I really have a higher ended system that should have no problem handling this game or wow, but it is having problems. I will call (to no avail tomorrow valve again ) and tried to get them to understand many people are having this issue and they need to issue a patch to fix the problem. I still believe it is not a hardware issue. A patch will circumvent this issue. I can play doom 3, far cry, call of duty etc with no problem. Hopefully customer support will tell me that are in the process of working on a patch for us( first hurdle is to understand them, when I call they are all foreign and they are hard to understand).
