Well, recently got a new motherboard (KV1 Photon Elitegroup) and processor (K8-64bit athlon)this christmas, however everytime I tried to boot up WinXP it would reboot the whole friggin systems, believing it to be something corrupt on boot up I reformatted the HardDrive.

Unfortunately, I lost my WinXP installation disk some three years ago (After I installed back then), so I have borrowed my next doors Win98 disk, It is amazing to see how few drivers on the motherboard disk actually run under Win98 (This is Win98, not Win98SE). During this week I'm going to use some of my overdraft to get WinXP and end this problem once and for all, but I got exams today and tomorrow so thats a bit of a snag.

I would play HL2 and counterstrike but the ethernet installation driver requires the Win98 disk, and I left it at home (I'm at University).

So currently, I only have two games to play for the time being, UT2004 and Morrowind.

So there you have, my deranged and sadistic and f*ucked up Windows odessey.

If you have had a similar experience, you may share it here.

If you have your licence for your previous copy of XP, couldn't you get MS to give you a replacement disc for much less than the full RRP?

If you have a valid license (and CD key) it is perfectly legit to use someone elses disk to install from.

£50 scent is right you could do that or you could do what pomegranete said (sorry if i spelt your name wrong!)
