Regarding backing up HL2 files

Hey guys.

I've got a close mate who has a ATI coupon but only has a 56k modem. So what i'm wanting to do is copy all the game files required for HL2 onto cds for him.

Now my question is this. When i went to back it up i selected CS:S and just added the HL2 option as well, but when we tryed to install it, it came up with had to be closed due to some error, would you like to send a thing to microsoft blah blah.

I'm thinking this happened because HL2 is not completely downloaded, due to the update we are likely to get on tuesday.
So could that be a possible reason why it didn't work???

If you could help us out that would be great

I read today somewhere that you to log off steam to be able to restore and install these files, maybe that is the case?

alright, we copied the file onto his desktop and was able to install the first backup file, but when it asks for the second cd we pop it in, but it dosn't seem to find it, so we can't get past here.

Pleassssssssssssssssssssse we need your help, he really wants to be able to play on tuesday ;P

Is there no option to specify a location? Put the second file in the same location as the first - that may help ...

However, it won't be anything to do with upcoming updates, I can at least help you with that.
