Reinstall

Do you know if you can reinstall Half Life 2. I was wondering if it would not allow you and if it would say "cd - key already in use"?

The cd-key is tied to the Steam account not the game install. You really think you wouldn't be able to reinstall a game you paid for?

lol has nothing to do with the company.

Uninstall Steam (Or delete your HL2 folder if thats all)
Download steam again, and sign in with your account
Download HL2 again.

Actually it does seeing as the company makes the game the won't let you reinstall. :upstare:

*Actually* it depends upon the developer/publisher. In this case it would have been VALVe's fault IF they had done something so stupid (as they developed Steam).

But they didn't.

Download steam again, and sign in with your account
Download HL2 again.

Backup GCF files
Uninstall Steam (Or delete your HL2 folder if thats all)

Replace GCF files

Once again no it doesnt. They may not have a gigantic button saying REINSTALL HERE NUBS. But anything u have the original CD for can be reinstalled.

Yeah I reinstalled a while ago because they said ALL the files needed to be downloaded again because something did not match (I think I was messing about with GCFscape). Reinstalled and thoughtlessly entered my cd-key, it said cd-key already in use.

Ah I thought, I just need to log in to my steam account.

That's my dull and uninteresting story
