Release before August?

I was wondering if it could be possible that valve will release HL2 or make it gold before that August?I mean-why not?I really don't get it why so late-especially after merces play-testing.They took notes of everything merc commented on and from what i heard those were mainly pros no flaws.I just wanted to get your opinion about this.It would really be cool if i could play HL2 during summer(school free period) so if someone from Valve is reading this thread then for god's sake PLEASE release that great game-you got merces opinions and they are great-what are you waiting for?!

Not if Valve are still on track to go gold in August.

Late August or sometime in September, are the dates to watch.
 
i think that the specail edition will have cs:s with it, so i don't think hl2 is there main concern, i think it's cs:s

yeah.
considering that after merc's first visit over to Valve's HQ, he mentioned about pple there still tweaking/fixing stuff throughout the game..

he also mentioned Gabe talking about more playtesters coming in for more testing.. (and possibly merc himself as well)

so with all that in mind im with Mr. Redundant on this one :)
 
It's possible, but Valve have said they're aiming for August, so it's unlikely.
 
I doubt it will be out in August. I mean DOOM III is coming out in august(supposedly) and they probably wouldn't want to go head to head against DOOM III. Both games are going to be amazing. It's what movies do, they plan their release date so they don't go head to head with another big movie. I'd imagine valve would do the same. I'm thinking September at the earliest.
 
My guess is valve will push it up a little bit. Doom3's release seems more offical than the big wigs are letting people know seeing as 2 major retailers have basicaly set in stone the release day.

Vevindi seems to be getting its butt kicked... weather it be from bad publicity or canceling companys under it "sierra".

If doom 3 is comeing out in augest you can almost safely assume valve will try to beat it out. Then again guys lets not forget Valve and ID are friends :)
 
Valve said that it should go gold in August if all goes well for them. In other words the earliest possible date according to their point of view (their point of view is the most accurate of course) is in August. So I don't think anything earlier is going to happen.
 
As I have always been saying look for a "release" in september. :cheers:
 
What is the point of this thread, it doesn't help the game come out faster, and like they've said it is released when it is done. =D
 
I think the earliest we'll see it is mid-august if the polisihng off process goes smoother then Valve anticipated.
 
it's nice to see the community can now bitch about some specific timeframe rather than going 'goddmanit when is SOON???'
 
Sorry for a bit off-topic but has there been any official statement about new release date of Doom3?I think the last release date is 20th of June which is obviusly not up to date! :)
I was hoping for at least Doom III to come out in June/July and i'm still hoping. :bounce:
Well then-go on-ruin my dreams with some 2005 release date -it won't be anything new for me... :E :rolling:

i think that hl2 wil be released near the beginning of august but it could possibly be later august... the game seems really like it is just getting the finishing touches put on it..

From what I've been hearing, HL2's single player sounds like it's nearly complete, if not done already (except final playtesting and squashing any bugs that come up). Right now, Valve is probably finalising the mp components of the game and may be putting some final touches on Steam in preparation for the bandwidth monster known as the HL2 preload. I'm thinking a late July release is still possible, but sometime in September is a much, much more realsistic date to pin your hopes on.

No way. Unless the bug to end all bugs comes up and has no easy fix or Valve's offices suddenly burn down, then we can certainly expect to see HL2 well in advance of X-Mas. Besides, Valve and Vivendi can't afford to lose crucial holiday sales, especially while their product is still cutting edge technology, which it won't be in the near future.

It's been claimed by a lot of sites that it is coming out August 3rd. However, this has not been confirmed by iD, so is just more speculation as far as I'm concerned at this point.
 
For starters, Aug 3rd has not been confirmed for Doom 3.

Second, I think HL 2 will be released around the end of August, Aug. 29th - 31st?
 
I'm gonna say November, then I can only be pleasently suprised!
 
I need it to come out by early August. So, that's when it'll be released! :D
 
Not a snowball's chance in hell will HL2 be released earlier than expected.

I suggest you start drinking. The time will drift by.

Yes, but waiting for August isn't going to be so fun. What are we supposed to do until then, we've run out of things to discuss :rolling:
 
i come back from Europe in time for Reading Festival and from Reading festival i may go to Malia for a boys week...all in all it would be 6 or 7 weeks of going out and traveling, it'll be fine.
 
If I were Valve, I'd give a date quite a bit later than what you expect, so that if anything happens there's some slack time.
