Release Date tomorrow?

No, they'll probably just tell us the new cool features the card has got and how it'll look like in Half-Life2
 
Wow i wonder if we'll finally officialy find out....i doubt it, probably something else like "Half Life 2 will be bundeled with our next generation card do out in 2004" :cheers:
 
What the hell can ATI say about Half Life 2's release date? NOTHING.

I expect them to say they will be sending out $49.99 rebate checks to compensate for Valve not being able to live up to it's end of the deal, thanks to the scumbags who hacked their way into Valve's computers.

Either that OR that they will substitue the HL2 game with a $50 Gift Certificate, useable at any EB, Gamestop, or Toy's-R-Us store.

Sucks though - this whole thing just sucks. Leave to a hacker moron to indefinately delay the game and cost Valve and ATI TONS of money.
 
Yeah I expect a bundle explanation and the shipping pricing.

I expect ATI to mention a single player ONLY version of HL2.
 
I'd like to hope that panzaman is right, that would be cool, unless it turns out it'll only be available right now to those who buy the cards or already have a voucher... The page mentions "in response to nVidia" and what better way to sell your cards but include the most wanted game in years as the ONLY way until April to get it.. nasty but ya never know

I pray to god that hawk724 is wrong (though I've this horrible feeling there is always the chance of it happening eek! :))
 
Wait a minute - they said the response will be on Thursday, October 24? TODAY is Thursday - October 23rd. So is the announcement today or Friday?

AN OFFICIAL from ATi Technologies has exclusively advised the INQUIRER that the company is confident of being in a position to finally make an announcement regarding Half-Life 2 tomorrow (Thursday 24th October).
 
ATI will anounce that their top end cards will bundle HL2 as a voucher only. :cool: News
 
The guy who does gaming / HL2 news for the inquirer is a moron. Whether it be the same bloke who wrote this article I don't know but there's one who is a complete jackass.

But does that make his information that much unreliable? Being an ass is just that. Being a "prankster" or a giver of false information is another.

the inquirer poeple are good writers they always know what they talking about.

I read a lot of info on their site and it turns out to be real. :cool:

Today Thursday in the US/Canada, as in Thursday evening if you live in Europe, or early Friday night if you live in Asia.

its not becuase of hackers or becuase some language support crap its becuase the game is no where near finished.

Well, no matter WHAT state it was in before the Theft, the game is now delayed indefinately BECAUSE of the Theft.

You have no clue what state the game was in anyway. If you base your opinions on stolen property, then your opinions are fantasy and should be in the rumor forum.
 
I have a friend that has a pretty good position at ATI. I was hanging out with him last weekend, and I asked him about Halflife.


He said that it won't be out until April. It sounds like he already knows what ATI is going to be releasing as info tomorrow. I can't wait to see if it's true or false.

He also is pretty much 99.999999% sure that the source code leak is the soul reason HL2 wasn't released for sept.30th.

So now....this friend is a friend. He's such a good friend that he got me an ATI Radeon 9800 pro for $300 CDN (229 USD) through his employee discount.

hmmm....

There are always gonna be rumours. I didn't post anything about what my buddy said because of all of the rumours...until I read that ATI was releasing info tomorrow.

That made me suspect that he wasn't spewing a rumour as much as something that he actually heard as fact. I just saw him in Toronto before a Gov't Mule show and over beers we had a chat about it.

3 days later, ATI says that they are going to say something. I actually get a kick out of reading an announcement of an impending announcement.

"Hey, I'm announcing now, that I will be announcing something tomorrow!"

Well, just one thing about this. If ATI is bundling HL2 that, in a technical/legal sort of way, makes them a publisher of HL2. Just as Vivendi/Sierra is. This is one of the reasons that Vivendi got so torked off about the ATI/Valve deal. Basically, Valve went off and picked up a second-tier publisher by agreeing to that deal, without ever consulting with Vivendi about it. So, in that respect, ATI might have much to say. Also, since it looks like communication and relations between Vivendi and Valve are terrible right now while communication and relations between ATI and Valve have obviously been very good from the pimping of ATI cards that Gabe does. Finally, I think that if Valve doesn't want to make a direct announcement and that they know that no one trusts what vivendi or Valve is saying anymore because they contradict each other then the perfect messenger for some substantive information is ATI.

Whaddaya think?

If they do, all you need to do is pick up Deus Ex 2, and have a blast with that game.

I'm sure that'll eat up a couple of months...quickly.

However, I'm willing to bet that this alleged announcement won't be what everyone thinks it is.

i agree, it will most likely have nothing to do with the final release date, we have to wait for valve to open there mouths
 
Maybe valve have left it till now so thier partners ATI could tell us the supposed release date. I mean ATI will be a bit stuffed if it's not out till April as everone has these vouchers for a game which isn't ready.

Also by April this game is going to have so many new competitors and is not going to look as hot as it would if it is released before xmas. Even duke nukem forever could beat it's release date....doubtful though. :)
