Release of Doom 3 - Reason for the CS:S Beta delay?

Alright peeps, how many of you think that the release od Doom 3 has had something to with the delay of the CS:S beta?

I wouldn't be surprised if they are waiting for the initial wow factor to wear off before they start the beta so that the players can concentrate on the BETA rather than switchig between that and doom 3.

What do you think?

nah... doom3 isnt out int eh UK til august the 13th... so thats not a reason... and after all doug said we brits are the better play testers...

No. I don't see any reason for this ^^

If anything I always thought that was the reason they were doing the beta in the first place: to take the focus off Doom.

Maybe they saw Doom wasn't all it was cracked up to be so they think they don't need to do a beta to steal its thunder anymore

LMAO Crusader! TBH I think I'll enjoy playing both games and both MP aspects will be usefull at the LAN's (Doom 3 for when the slackers don't turn up 'till the middle of the afternoon and CS:S / HL2 MP for when we have a full house :thumbs

Nah D3 had nothing to do with it, I mean c'mon they barely had all the player models ready anyway that's an indication of the current status of CS. IMO it just wasn't ready and it needs more tweaking before going publicly beta.

Here are few reasons:

1. All the valve office visits from fans (how in the hell do they have time for visits and yet they have not completed the game and always delay their products)

2. Travel- They apperently have time for shows in Korea, beats me?

3. Spending time answering email from morons asking about bucket of water and physics! yes that must be it!

I must say all the question answers are interesting indeed, but it does take time to answer these, even though many are 1 word or short sentences...I don't think that Doom has much to do with it but those PR (public relations) people are sneaky as anyone...
