It's about a comedian who goes around asking questions pertaining to the validity of religion even though his own mind is already made up about it, and in reality he just goes around making fun of religious people.
 
Thanks, I was confused about the premise of this film at first.

I havent seen the movie however just look at it this way: it's like one of those documentaries on obsessive Star Trek/Star Wars fans ..the focus of those types of documentaries are usually thinly disguised ridicule ..really I dont see how Religulous is anything different ..I mean both religion and star trek/star wars is fantasy, the fact that some people take it waaaay too far should be a subject for ridicule
 
Yeah, the documentary was pretty self righteous for Bill. But, the documentary was pretty funny is parts and it was interesting. Didn't give me any new insights about anything.
 
From what I saw it seemed entertaining.

A couple of you are retards, and when I read the previews for the movie I had the misconception that the point of it was to confront intelligent people with intelligent questions about religion - but I guess a lot of atheists really have no idea what they are doing.

The title of the movie is "Religulous" ie. "Religion" plus "Ridiculous".

Ridiculous="worthy of ridicule"

Ridicule="to make fun of"

Religulous="Religion is worthy of being made fun of"

The premise of the movie was in the title for christ's sake!

Woah woah woah , bro. So your opinion is the "correct" one? All other opinions are inferior to yours? What is your logic behind that because it sure as hell doesn't make much sense at all. Well to be perfectly honest I think certain groups of people are morons too but it isnt like I go about preaching it to people. Besides most of this forum is atheist (as shown by that poll a while back) and there are some smart people in here.

So I come on here and post a movie review which everyone bashes me about even though they totally agree with what I say about it, saying that I made the terrible mistake of not judging a movie properly before seeing it. Basically implying that no-one has a right to review a movie badly because they should always recognize a bad movie before-hand and not watch it.

Anyways... So I recognize that you're trolling and I tell you guys that you're retards. Then you prove to me again that you can't tell a vagina from your own assholes by suddenly thinking I have some weird opinion about religion that I'm trying to tell you. All while I'm just getting pissed off that you are trolling me.

Also to the ones who somehow deduced I'm religious, I'm not. You brainless twats. That's why I said many - not all - atheists have no idea WTF they are doing, because they're just as imposing, judgemental, and retarded as many religious people. Thanks for proving that statement right after I said it.

Krynn: yes I've gotten my ass kicked and my hand pissed on, and it was totally uncalled for. You know a lot of the time that a whole group beats on someone for saying something supposedly stupid (even if they ironically agree with that person), the group blows it way out of proportion and are also wrong about it.

Thats not a review at all... its a synopsis. Thats why people made the "thanks Captain Obvious!" type jokes, which you then took offense to and then proceeded to act like a fool.

Just because you misunderstood the premise of the movie doesn't make it a bad movie. The movie's premise was to interview religious people with tounge-in-cheek overtones and get them to say absurd things. The movie succeeded in that regard.

Now, if you didn't like the movie, you'll have to tell us why you didn't like it, other than it wasn't what you expected. Otherwise your review is something like this:

"I thought this movie was going to be a war movie, but it turned out to be a chick flick! What a bummer, 2/10"

it's a 2/10 because you dont like the content of the movie or because structurally, thematically it wasnt a very good documentary?

the former would mean you have no business reviewing documentaries and the latter assumes that you at least know what you're talking about so there's some validity to your opinion on the movie ...however I think the former is true

well, i enjoyed it. especially the comedic edge it had.
although, like someone else said, it offered very little new insight, it simply reaffirmed the fact that religion does more harm than good and that people simply should not force their beliefs unto others
