Okay... scorched earth was such an awesome game way back in the day. I played it all the time. After a while, it drifted out of my memory. When my brother showed me a new version of it, scorched earth 3d, I cannot believe I have never heard of it before! I don't think its made by the official developers, but boy does this game capture the glory of its predecessor, in full 3d form! The graphics aren't the greatest, but they are still quite impressive, and the carnage and terrain deformation makes this game incredibly addicting! You gotta try this game out!

There's also a new mode, called apocalypse mod, and its unbelievably fun, with some immensely damaging weaponry. Go ahead, download it, and give it a try! Play with up to 24 bots, or even try to find people to play against!

Hehe, looks like a nice game. Gotta try it sometime. :)

Targeting can be a bit trial and error in 3 dimensions like that heh

You can get really damn good at the game if you are good with arcs. ANd practice makes perfect. You should try the game out, its FREE.

EDIT: And even if you're not sure of a shot, sometimes its wise to use tracer rounds and such to get the right trajectory on an opponent before launching bigger weapons like nukes.

In the apocalypse mod, there's some weapons you can use that very very impressively demolish much of the map. VERY fun to play around with. Hehe.

I seriously think you should all try this out.

I absolutely loved that game back in the day. I played it a lot as well. I will definitely have to check this out. Thanks for the link.

Regarding the original. It is a tank battle game. You try to hit your oppenents with tank shells. You have to worry about trajectory and velocity. You make money the more kills you get and you can purchase better weapons (offensive and defensive) in between rounds.

Some of the weapons are really unique and do interesting things. The ground would deform with explosions. All in all a very fun game in an old school sort of way.

Been there done that :P... It wasn't too bad, I just prefer the old school one.

loved that first version, one of my first multiplayer experiences

3d one seems interesting...
...and it also LOOKS amazing, which is not so common in free games.

I used to play Scorched Earth all the time with my cousins,. we'd have as many as 5 people taking turns,. some really epic battles. I'm going to check this out, and if its any good, I'll bust it out next time I see them. Cheers!

Remember to post what you think of it :-p

i play it @ every lan : D

it's really fun, aiming isn't very hard either [still trial-and-error like the original of course].

We should get a server going. Seems not too many people are playing it multiplayer right now, just a couple servers with bots, and a couple more with maybe 2 or 4 players on it.

I wanna play against some of you guys and kick your ass :sniper:

Ooh! It took me a while before I remembered why that game sounded so familiar. Loved Scorched Earth!!
Downloading now. Cheers :D
