the pirates have ****ed up the gaming community. they don't release the PC game at the same time anymore, so I'll have to go through 33 pages of people describing how they beat the game, and I'm like, yea, I just got GTA 4 for PC, and It's really sweet, and you guys will be like, meh, it was good, but I haven't played it in like 6 months.


and people will still pirate the ****ing thing regardless.

No just no. Get a ****ing clue please. The reason GTA is a delayed release for PC is to try and force everyone to get the damned thing on console because consoles actually work. Before now Sony had their hands so far up Rockstar's arse it wasn't funny. The game will just WORK on the consoles unlike the PC where shit is likely to break, a lot. Piracy has very little to do with the delayed launch.
 
It's nice that they're having pre-registration so their servers don't explode on the 29th :)

Not much point of that when Rockstar's page already does it anyway, but it could be cool to have our own competitions among the members here.

I'd like to see you code something that will work flawlessly on a million different hardware/software configurations that doesn't rely on a virtual machine or any current frameworks like.net. But hey if it's an e-penis competition you want it's an e-penis competition you'll get. I'm sure my Intel QX9650 is up to the task.

So let's see reasons to focus on consoles;

1. Primary market group uses consoles.
2. Consoles are a single hardware/software configuration.
3. It's easier to manage two projects at once than 3.
4. The PC market will still get a version but at a later date. We (Rockstar) still make money either way and some may be convinced to buy the console version to then later buy the PC version.

Do you think that is why the PC version will be releasing on a different date? I don't think GTA3/VC and SA were PS2 limited time exclusives for that reason (paid?). Their release dates have been staggered that way for a while with GTA.
 
I expect the time it will take to port the 360 GTA4 to PC will be significantly less than the time it took to port the PS2 GTA3 Series of games to the PC.

He's probably saying that since PC's are almost always different from one another, there is bound to be many people out there who have conflicts somewhere down the line that prevents them from playing the game, or causes problems in the game.

With consoles, every single console is the same, and the games are designed specifically for that hardware, so the experience of one person to the next person is not likely to be very different, except in very rare fluke situations.



Oh and as for the thread, I posted this note in the social group, but it's a good idea a thread was made(I just didn't want to be the one to make the thread).

I'm going to be registering on Thursday and I urge all of you to do the same :D

You can sign up whenever. It starts the 17th. Today is only the 15th.

It never ends. Think of it just as a way to track stats in GTA4 and upcoming Rockstar games.

But aye, though as much. Will sign up for sure. I love the Bungie stats tracker to hell so I'll get loads of use out of this. Too bad this game isn't going to have Theatre mode or anything. Man, imagine how cool that'd be... :(
