Removing RAM

I want to remove one of my RAM sticks (not sure if its right word) just for a few minutes to experiment but if I just put the stick on the desk will it be safe from static? Do I absolutely need an anti-static bag for a few minutes?

should be right, just dont get it near clothes, carpet, screen (static causing stuff)
