ahg this is such a n00bie question but its getting on my nurves, after putting a texture on a model, how do i then take it off so there is no material at all? so its just plain color.
If you are using max, select what bit you don't want to have a texture, open up the material editor (press m), select a blank sphere, click the button to apply the blank material and voila your model should now be a nice grey
thats what i normly do but i dont want it a nice grey, i want to remove all the material color all together and just have the origanal color when i created it
you'll just have to recreate you orgional colour, if its planar mapping, UVW is way easier of course , just delete the UVW modifier in the stack,, or if youve converted it to an editable mesh type already after this. then you can just delete the UVW modifier as far back in the stack as it goes anyway.
Just change the colour of the material, click on the grey box next to the diffuse dialog in the material editor. There is no difference between the basic, un-modified material and the colour you get when you create a primitive
basicly i just made some shaders on a blinn material, there is a grey and a ligher grey and just droped it on to the model. But i take it i carnt get it back off . i jsut done a color on another material slot and stuck it on.
there must be some way of removing materials all together
You cannot restore materials to their original state unless you remember the settings of the original material. I don't see why you would want it to return to the original color anyway.
Well no particular reason i just like to model in the origanal color. I think im just mad hehe . Well thanx for telling me that because i spend ages trying to figger it out
