Replacing HD sounds?

Hey, in HL-1 I was thinking if it was possible to replace the new m4a1 sound (from the HD pack) for the CS:S m4a1 sound. I got as far as obtaining the CS:S sound, but I have no clue as to where to place the file so in Half-Life it's possible to hear the CS:S sound instead of the HD sound.

Can anyone help please? Thanks.

I don't think you can, source sounds are recorded at a different frequency or something. The last time I tried to do that, I didn't hear a single thing when I tried to shoot.

It would be nice, id make the footsteps louder. And the ambience/everything else, a bit quiter. Kind of like a balance, so I can hear positioning better.
