Thats on AM3 though I don't my mobo work with Am3 cpu's

Do you have AM2 or AM2+ board?

Anyway, unless you already have someone wanting to buy that CPU for a good price I wouldn't switch. Gaming wouldn't notice it much. Might raise the average FPS in games by 10 (comparing stock speeds for both).

Too bad you probably have DDR2 memory. An Intel i5 would be a real improvement (especially on min FPS) and they are $200.

If you are feeling lucky you could grab a Phenom II X2 550 and try to unlock the other 2 cores. unlock Seems there is a lot of attention to this CPU and a lot of success. But again, AM3.
