Report your fix for the Crashing

If anyone has a fix for the crashing that they know worked for there machine please post it in hear. Also if you can give the specs and service pack level you have on your machine.

This seems to be a majot problem for alot of people who purchased the HL2
game and is not specific to a one type of hardware but all types.

Upgrading from the Catalyst 4.11 to the Catalyst 4.12 Beta drivers worked for me.

Abit KV8 Pro
Athlon 64 3000+
Windows 2000 SP4
MSI Radeon 9800 Pro

I was having the Random crashing problem it occured when there was harddisk acess and sound at the same time.

if you check out this solution you will see that Valve oviously have not coded there sound drives correctly for shared devices.

basically all you may need to do is move your soundcard a slot up or down :upstare:. A VERY bodgy fix but it worked for me.

I was able to play up to Ravenhold. Now the game crashes after about 5 minutes. None of the fixes posted in a forum helped.
