As some of you may know my only PC is four year old mid range Dell that is waaay beyond the point of being worth upgrading.
Being a gamer and not being able to play any games released after 2005 is not good.
Playing CS:S and TF2 on absolute lowest settings is not good.
I'll be going off the college soon, and I really need a laptop. I absolutely despise Vista. I've been cleaning up my girlfriend's Vista laptop for her, and it's XP with more useless shit and less functionality. I hate it.
I am an amateur electronic musician. Macs have piqued my interest for their reputations as music and graphic workstations (photoshop lover too).
I've considered the option of using bootcamp to boot OSX for music stuffs, XP for gaming, and possibly Linux for open sourcing (I already dual boot XP and Ubuntu)
If I decide to get a macbook for gaming, it would need to be a macbook pro as the regular macbook does not have a graphics card. This creates a dilemma by pushing the price point into the ridiculous range for a mediocre gaming notebook. ($2200+) D:
I don't have a set pricepoint, but keep in mind that in six months I'll be doing all I can to pay for college and feed myself. I'm saving all of my christmas and birthday money, and I've just started working. My parents + grandparents may help me some.
I've probably left out details, let me know if I'm missing anything crucial.
What would you guys do in my position?
